COMPASS/ACT/APNE TESTING DATES
COMPASS TEST DATES
The COMPASS or ACT test is required by Moberly Area Community College of all students
seeking a degree or certificate, who have accumulated fourteen credit hours,
or who plan to take an English or math course.
COMPASS is an untimed, computerized test that consists of three areas of study:
writing, reading, and mathmatics. The purpose of the COMPASS is to assist in your placement into English and math courses at MACC.
As the COMPASS testing progresses, you may find that some tests will take longer to finish than others. This is because you will be tested at several different levels of knowledge about the subject and the computer program adjusts to your responses. There is no set number of questions for any test.
Bring $4.00 for the COMPASS test fee. You will be asked to show photo identification at the time of the test. You are allowed to retake the COMPASS.

The Aptitude for Practical Nursing Examination (APNE) is used to assist in making the most accurate and fair decision possible regarding the admission of an applicant into the Practical Nursing Program.
The APNE consists of a series of five parts: Academic Aptitude, Spelling, Information in the Natural Sciences, Judgement and Comprehension in Practical Nursing Situations, and Vocational Adjustment Index.
The Practical Nursing Program requires a minimum score at the fiftieth percentile or better on the first three tests.
The Judgment and Comprehension in PN Situations and Vocational Adjustment Index will not be used for admission purposes.
APNE testing time is aproximately three hours.
There is a $27.50 fee for the APNE and prior registration with student services is requested. Please be advised that you are only allowed to take the APNE test every 30 days. You can find sample questions for the APNE test online at http://www.psbtests.com. First go to Resources for Test Takers, then to Sample Questions for the PSB Examination, click Aptitude for Practical Nursing Examination. Study all five parts of the test even though your 50% will only be calculated from the first three parts. Other ways to study for the test would be to review high school science textbooks, a GED study guide, eighth grade arithmetic textbooks and a SAT study guide.
